The Cadillac CT4 arrived for the 2020 model year as the brand’s latest premium compact luxury sedan. Filling the shoes of the outgoing ATS, the new CT4 is a RWD-based sedan built on GM’s performance-oriented Alpha 2 chassis.
Now in its second model year, the CT4 will see enhanced technologies, more standard safety features, and expanded V-Series equipment for 2021 that are sure to catapult the compact Cadillac sedan to the top of the segment.
2021 Cadillac CT4 vs. 2020 Cadillac CT4
Cadillac is aiming to make the 2021 CT4 even safer with more driver assistance technologies than ever before. As a result, all 2021 CT4 trims will now come standard with Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking, Safety Alert Seat, and the new Buckle to Drive feature.
The interior of 2021 models is also significantly more upscale, featuring a new available high-definition 12-inch digital gauge cluster with customized display capabilities. The infotainment system will now feature Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto standard, so you can do away with the mess of charging cords.
Most notably, Cadillac is set to unveil its highly anticipated Enhanced Super Cruise with Lane Change on Demand on the CT4 in early 2021—the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system.
2021 Cadillac CT4 V-Series Sees Subtle Upgrades
Cadillac’s V-Series models and sub-brand content are also bolstered for the 2021 model year. The 2021 CT4-V front brake calipers will now feature the V-Series logo, while the center console trim has been upgraded from aluminum to carbon fiber. These may seem like miniscule changes, but this attention-to-detail is exactly what buyers in this segment crave to stand out from the crowd.
If the superior stopping capabilities of the CT4-V is something you crave but the MSRP is more than you can manage, the CT4 Sport will now be offered with Brembo V Performance front brakes for the first time in an attractive powder coated red or blue finish.
2021 Cadillac CT4 Performance and Powertrain Options
A twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder is standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims rated at 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, a larger 2.7L dual volute turbocharged four-cylinder is available in the Premium Luxury model that produces a more enticing 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The larger powertrain is paired to a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which features two more gears than the 2.0L CT4’s eight-speed unit.
To experience the pinnacle of CT4 performance, enthusiasts will want to opt for the 2021 Cadillac CT4-V. Featuring the same turbocharged 2.7L engine as the Premium Luxury with more aggressive tuning, the CT4-V yields eye-popping performance figures for a small-displacement force-fed four cylinder. With 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque on tap, the CT4-V can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds.
