2021 Cadillac XT6 vs 2020 Cadillac XT6 What’s Different

Since its debut in 2019, the Cadillac XT6 has been one of the most popular midsize luxury SUVs on the market. With unrivaled refinement, sophistication and style, the XT6 is everything a Cadillac is supposed to be. The 2021 model year will see the XT6 undergo changes that will make it more affordable for those looking to jump into the luxury SUV segment with an all-new entry-level trim.

Luxurious, Spacious Cabin with Ample Cargo Room

The XT6 is the largest of Cadillac’s three crossover SUVs, positioned between the XT5 and full-size Escalade in overall dimensions. It accommodates up to seven passengers with standard third-row seating—or six if you opt for the available second-row captain’s chairs. When the extra seating for rear passengers isn’t needed, the seats fold flat to reveal a cavernous 78.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row and 43.1 cubic feet behind the second row.

Its spacious cabin provides ample legroom and headroom for both second and third row passengers. The interior is adorned with leather appointments, metallic accents, and authentic exotic woods or carbon fiber depending on the trim level. It creates an interior environment that simply oozes sophistication and class—something we’ve come to expect from GM’s top-tier luxury brand.

Premium Interior Technology and Amenities

The latest generation of Cadillac User Experience (CUE) has been fitted with a library of apps at your disposal and voice activation technology. Wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability will now allow you to charge your phone and stream music without the mess of charging cords. No doubt about it—you’ll be able to hear Spotify and other music streaming services with booming bass and crystal clarity through the XT6’s available Bose Performance Series 14-speaker audio system.

2021 Cadillac XT6 vs. 2020 Cadillac XT6

The 2021 model year will see the addition of a third trim level for the XT6—making the model more appealing to buyers who have been apprehensive toward upgrading to a luxury SUV. Following Cadillac’s full Y-trim level strategy, a new entry-level Luxury model will be offered alongside returning Premium Luxury and Sport trims.

The FWD 2021 Cadillac XT6 starts at only $48,990 in Luxury guise—making it one of the few SUVs in this segment available for less than $50,000. If you live in a winter climate where additional traction is paramount, AWD can be added for only $2000 extra.

Cadillac XT6 Powertrain Offerings

A 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder is the standard powertrain offered on the XT6 Luxury—producing 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine is equipped with automatic start/stop technology (with a disable function), and it’s paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission that provides optimum efficiency. A more powerful 3.6L V6 engine yielding 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque is offered, but you’ll have to step up to Premium Luxury ($53,790+) or Sport ($58,190+) trims to get it.

Standard Safety Equipment

Even in base Luxury trim, the XT6 comes standard with a host of safety and driver assistance features, including Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Front and Rear Park Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Safety Alert Seat and HD Rear Vision Camera.
